Handsets for VoIP

There are two ways of using a VoIP handset.

1. A call from one VoIP user to another VoIP user-the voice is converted to digital signal, transmitted directly over the internet, and then converted back to voice.
2. A call from a VoIP user to standard (landline or mobile) line user-the voice is decoded, transmitted to routing server, then to the provider’s Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) gateway, and from the PSTN network, it emerges the same as a regular call.

A VoIP handset can be plugged into an adapter or can be an all-in-one handset that doesn’t need an adaptor.
